MARK CORETH

16th June  -  4th July 2018

Born in London, Mark lived on the family farm in Kenya until 1971 when he returned to the UK.  After school he attended Sandhurst Military Academy, was commissioned into the Blues and Royals from 1979 - 1993 and served in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Falklands, Germany and the UK.  From 1986 he pursued both his military and artistic careers, retiring from the army in 1993 to become a full-time sculptor. Coreth's first one-man exhibition was in 1986 in London and in 1993 he had a one-man show in Paris.  He also took part in Zoo Sculpt 93 - an exhibition of life size animal sculpture at London Zoo.
From 1995 onwards Mark has undertaken numerous commissions and continues to show widely in the United Kingdom and overseas.  His work can be seen in many public spaces, such as his full size sculpture of the 'Frankel' at Ascot Racecourse.

EMMA BROWNJOHN

23rd June  -  7th July 2018

Emma, having obtained her fine art degree, worked for many years as a freelance illustrator and muralist and has also written and illustrated her own series of children's books titled "Yes I can help save the planet".
Since 2005 Emma has concentrated solely on her painting. Her work is a constantly evolving journey into how colours interact and play against one another. She uses large planes of semi-muted background by building up layers of pattern and texture, then punctuates them with surprising sparks of colour.  Some of her works are inspired by personal experience but she strives to make them feel as universal and aesthetically pleasing as possible, so viewers can see her world but be transported into their own dreams or memories.

RICHARD PIKESLEY, R.W.S., P.N.E.A.C.

22nd September  -  10th October 2018

Richard Pikesley started his artistic career at the Harrow School of Art, going on to study at Canterbury College for three years.  Within a year he was elected to the New English Art Club and that year he had his first painting accepted at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, where he has continued to show ever since.  He was elected as President of the N.E.A.C. in 2013.
Richard’s art education instilled in him a love for landscape and the effects of light and weather.  He considers that what he is doing is part of an on-going tradition with its roots in the paintings of Constable, together with a belief that painting from nature is something to be prized and nurtured.

CHARLES ANDERSON / MHAIRI MCGREGOR / JACKIE PHILIP

27th October  -  14th November 2018

Charles Anderson taught art for 5 years and then worked as a professional mural painter and sculptor for 30 years.  Since 1997 Charles has returned to painting pictures and contributes to many exhibitions at various galleries throughout the country.
Mhairi McGregor's response to subjects comes through in her paintings.  The spontaneity is apparent, because she does not re-work a canvas.  If she is not satisfied she will start afresh.  Mhairi exhibits throughout the United Kingdom.
Jackie Philip has painted fulltime since completing her postgraduate studies.  Her images are influenced by her overseas travels, as well as by her native Scotland and their 20th century artists.  She, too, exhibits widely in this country and abroad.
